Getting the Gang Back Together for SC20

Supercomputing 2020 (aka SC20) is happening November 9 – 19. It was supposed to be in Atlanta, but it’s online for the obvious reason. Tony Foster and I were lamenting that we weren’t going to be able to attend. Then we decided to build our own adventure to experience the event online.

So we’re getting our old gang back together! Of course that gang are the folks who worked on HPC/AI/ML/AI for the last several years at VMware and Dell (EMC). And we want y’all to come with us!

You Can Attend SC20 For Free!

SC20 logo

There is a free option for SC20. You don’t get access to the workshops or sessions, but Supercomputing is a HUGE conference. You can go to the Keynotes, the Plenary Sessions, and booth sessions for free!

Go to the SC20 registration page, and choose Exhibits (XO). You’ll get an email with your registration number. You’ll need that to log into the SC20 Virtual Platform.

Set Aside Time to Attend!

One of the most important parts of planning to attend a virtual event is to set aside time to attend. BLOCK YOUR CALENDAR! Claim the time for training or market research, but claim that time for yourself.

I am a delegate on the 1st AI Field Day, so I’ll have to work my schedule around that. It is going to be AI week!

Plan Your Adventure – Sessions

Once you’re in the virtual platform, click the star for the sessions you’re interested in. The Keynote starts at 10AM central on Monday, November 16th. Tony has offered to stream it for us. More on that below.

I’m really interested in the Keynote and Plenary sessions, as well as booth sessions by all of the public clouds.

Gather for SC20 on the vHallway Discord Server

I’ve created an SC20 chat and video channel on the vHallway Discord Server to give us a place to gather and chat. We’ll organize the keynote watch party from this location, although it may happen on Twitch, stay tuned for details!

The idea of the server is to have a place to get your bearings (what sessions to attend, etc.), ask questions , and

We are also planning to do a happy hour during the event in the video channel. Plans are TBD, but details will get shared in the server 1st.

If you haven’t already joined, here is the invite

Real Talk

Supercomputing is always an extremely educational conference. This year it is online, so if you’re trying to understand the world of AI you are in luck! We made our gathering place with you in mind!

We also made it to make sure we all get to have an experience where we get to interact with our colleagues. Please feel free to invite anyone who should attend! See ya in
